Apple and Cochlear Team Up to introduce Cochlear Hearing Device for iPhone
Hearing aids and cochlear implants are different from each other. Cochlear implants are for people who have profound hearing loss. It is used when hearing aids are not sufficient. Hearing aids amplify sounds where as cochlear implant stimulates the hearing nerve directly. Cochlear implant has an internal component to be inserted surgically under the skin behind ear. The external part is same as old hearing aid.Cochlear Nucleus 7 pairs with iOS device by using Bluetooth and Apple Protocol. Easy commands like changing the device volume or checking the status of battery can by done through Apple device without a separate App. Advanced Functions like finding a cochlear implant if it gets lost is done through Cochlear’s App. Cochlear Nucleus 7 will be launched in US and Canada by September.
